Our Privacy Promise

iConfess takes your privacy seriously.

The privacy and secrecy of the Sacrament of Confession is of the utmost importance. What you mark in an examination, and what you write about it, is never sold or shared. It stays on your device unless you turn on encrypted sync, and if you choose to save nothing, it is cleared away when you close the app.

iConfess does see how the app is used, such as which features are opened, how often examinations are completed, and when something goes wrong, so that we can make it better. That never includes what you mark or write. Two things leave your device only when you ask: finding a parish sends your search location to the parish directory that answers it, and asking for a prayer or a deeper psalm match sends the words you type to OpenAI to write the answer.

If you turn on encrypted sync, your data is sealed on your device with a key made from your password before it is uploaded. Without your password or your recovery code, there are no known ways for anyone else (including us) to read it. No technology is ever 100% secure, and we won't pretend otherwise, but we have taken every step we know of to keep your data yours.
